It has been the practice of D3270 in recent years to have a cricket match in conjunction with the annual District Conference.

This year’s event was scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 21st but heavy overnight rain meant the pitch and outfield on the chosen ground were unplayable.

Rotary cricketers, however, being an intrepid bunch, were not deterred and the D3270 cricketers decided to move the game to the Punjab University cricket ground in Lahore with PDG Faiz Muhamed Kidwai (Foundation Eleven) and PP Sajid Bhatti (Governor’s Eleven) skippering the two teams.

Past RI Director, Noraseth Pathmanand, was on hand to take charge of activities initially while other dignitaries present were current district Governor Saeed Sahmsi, PDG Dr. Ali Akhtar, Immediate Past District Governor Aiziz Memon, Conference Chairman Dr. XXX Mansor and District Secretary Kashif Khan.

Many Rotarians played in the game including Ismail Qamer, Abdul Razzaq, Pir Ibrahim, Iqbal Hussain and Assistant Governor Tanveer Hussan.

The result of the game was a victory for the Governor’s Eleven.  At an Awards Ceremony after the game Kashif Khan was named best batsman, Abdul Razzaq was named best bowler and Pir Ebrahim Shah was agreed as the best fielder.
